Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis
Presentation :
- Flaccid generalized weakness precipitated by strenuous exercise or a high-carbohydrate meal
Pathophysiology :
- Can either be genetic/familial or acquired
- The acquired form occurs with thyrotoxicosis and is most frequently found in men of Asian or Mexican descent
Diagnostic Testing:
Treatment :
- Acquired form 2/2 thyrotoxicosis resolves with treatment of hyperthyroidism
