Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (Pseudotumor Cerebri)
Presentation :
- Characterized by increased intracranial pressure without identifiable structural pathology
- Patients are typically female, have obesity, and are of childbearing age
- Papilledema is nearly always present
Pathophysiology :
Diagnostic Testing:
- Diagnosis is confirmed by a CSF pressure >250 mm H2O with normal fluid composition
Treatment :
- First-line treatment is weight loss if BMI is elevated.
- First-line medication is acetazolamide.
