Mesna
Mesna = Sodium 2-mercaptoethane sulfonate
Indications :
| - Given alongside Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan) and Ifosfamide to prevent hemorrhagic cystitis |

Contraindications:
Dosing :
- Generally given as a fractionated dosing schedule of three IV bolus injections of 240 mg per meter cubed every 4 hours
MoA :
- Mesna concentrates in the bladder and detoxifies acrolein
Pharmacokinetics :
- Mesna initially becomes inactivated to dimesna (mensa disulfide) in the bloodstream; however, once it is filtered through the kidneys and excreted into the bladder, it is reactivated
