Parkinson Plus Syndromes
Presentation :
- For pure Parkinson Disease, motor symptoms develop first, followed several years later by development of dementia
- Multiple system atrophy characterized by parkinsonism, ataxia, and severe dysautonomia (ie orthostatic hypotension)
- If dementia develops within 1-2 years of motor symptom onset, this is characteristic of Lewy Body Dementia
- Also more classica
- Progressive supranuclear palsy have parkinsonism, prominent postural instability with early falls, impairment in both ocular range of movement and saccades (very fast jumps from one eye position to another, particularly in the vertical direction), facial dystonia, dysphagia, dysarthria
