USPSTF Screening Intervals
Diabetes
- Screening for new DM2:
- All adults age 35+
- Rescreen every 3 years if results are normal
- Abnormal result on one of three tests (if asx, must repeat test for confirmation or have 2 abnormal tests):
- Fasting glucose >= 126
- 2h Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) >= 200
- A1c >= 6.5%
- OR a single random plasma glucose >200 mg/dL WITH symptomatic hyperglycemia (e.g., polyuria, polydipsia) is diagnostic of diabetes and does not require further confirmatory testing.
Malignancy
- Breast cancer:
- Biennial screening mammography for women aged 50 to 74 years
- Colorectal cancer (Guidline):
- All adults 50-75 should be screened for colorectal cancer w/ colonoscopy or FIT testing (Grade A)
- Consider screening for ages 45-50 as well (Grade B)

Lung cancer
- Cervical cancer
- Age 21-29: every 3 years with cervical cytology alone
- Age 30-65: screening every 3 years with cervical cytology alone, every 5 years with high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) testing alone, or every 5 years with hrHPV testing in combination with cytology (cotesting)

Prostate cancer
Cardiovascular Disease
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
- 1-time screening for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) with ultrasonography in men aged 65 to 75 years who have ever smoked
- Do not screen asymptomatic women for AAA.
Metabolic Disease
- Osteoporosis:
- Start age 65 yearsAverage-risk postmenopausal women with BMD measurement
